Scottsdale Headache Chiropractor

Headaches are one of the most common reasons people seek chiropractic care — and one of the most treatable. Whether you’re dealing with tension headaches that tighten across your forehead and temples, migraines that send you to a dark room, or a dull ache at the base of your skull that never quite goes away, there’s often a structural reason behind it. At Woolston Wellness Center, we look for that reason instead of just masking the pain.

Many headaches — including some that have been dismissed as “just stress” — originate in the neck and upper spine. Misalignment, muscle tension, and nerve irritation in the cervical spine can all refer pain upward into the head. Chiropractic care addresses these problems at the source, which is why many patients who’ve tried medications with limited success find real, lasting improvement through spinal care.

Headache Types We Treat

Tension Headaches are the most common type and are often driven by muscle tightness in the neck, shoulders, and upper back. Long hours at a desk, poor posture, and stress all contribute. Chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue work can reduce the muscular tension that triggers them.

Cervicogenic Headaches originate directly from the cervical spine — usually the upper two or three vertebrae. The pain is often one-sided, starts at the base of the skull, and worsens with certain neck movements. These respond well to chiropractic care because the source of the problem is structural.

Migraines are more complex, but spinal dysfunction can be a contributing trigger. Research supports chiropractic care as an effective approach for reducing migraine frequency and intensity, particularly when neck stiffness or postural imbalances are part of the picture.

Post-Traumatic Headaches often follow car accidents, falls, or sports impacts. If your headaches started after an injury — even a minor one — the cervical spine is a likely contributor. Whiplash-related headaches commonly originate at the base of the skull and can become chronic if the underlying spinal issue isn’t addressed.

How Chiropractic Care Helps

Our approach starts with understanding your headache pattern — when they occur, where the pain is, what makes them better or worse, and what your history looks like. From there, we assess your cervical spine and posture to identify what’s driving the problem.

Gentle spinal adjustments restore proper alignment, relieve nerve pressure, and reduce the muscular tension that fuels headache cycles. We also incorporate soft tissue work and, where appropriate, targeted stretches and exercises to support lasting improvement between visits. Many patients notice a significant reduction in headache frequency within a few weeks of starting care.
